A December update

December 12, 2020 · from Lesley’s original CaringBridge journal

It has been a while since I have given you all a medical update so here goes….

I am off the Tacrolimus!!!! That is the anti-rejection/immunosuppressant that I have been on since transplant. We have been tapering me off for the past couple of months. I have been almost two weeks without any and so far have had no significant adverse side effects. I will go this coming Tuesday (15th) to check in and run the usual bloodwork. I am still showing signs of mild, chronic GVHD (graft vs. host disease) in my skin with the eczema type patches. I have also had some issues in my mouth with it being extra dry and funny feeling. All of this has been manageable though, so I’m not complaining – just reporting 😉 ALL of the guys have had a cold for over a week now – and I am the ONLY one NOT sick! How crazy is that?! We are praying that I don’t catch anything because there is no way I haven’t been exposed. Other than that, there is nothing real exciting to report.

If you haven’t already, please visit my website/blog http://www.cancermamma.com for funny stories and updates about life in general around this crazy place. You can also read about the projects I’ve been working on for the patients at the hospital. It has been fun!

By far this has been the craziest year of my lifetime and probably the majority of all of you too. But please, recognize all the good that has happened this year – there has been SO much of it. As a good friend of mine says, we need to “chew on the meat and spit out the bones.” Focus on all the amazing things that have happened. The Lord has shown His face in so many ways this year – what a great year to focus on the person of Christ this Advent season!

Love to you all this Christmas,
Lesley
