FIrst order of business…. My bloodwork looked great. That was a huge relief.
My skin – ya’ll…. it is a hot mess! The NP said she could see about 3 different types of rashes. I will need to follow up with dermatology to see if they have some better ideas of how to treat them all topically. In the meantime though, we do know that most of it is GVHD. We do need to get it under control though, because we can’t afford for it to get worse. The Boss thinks it could be a reaction to one of my meds – specifically the one that is keeping my specific type of cancer bug away (the FLT3 inhibitor for all you nerds like me). We are going to stop it for a week, then start it back to see if it is the culprit. We also had the steroid conversation. I will likely need to take a short course of them to help get the GVHD under control. I will go back next Tuesday for us to discuss the results of this experiment and determine the next best step.
Of course, I aired all my apprehensions – multiple times. But both The Boss and my NP were super reassuring that this is just a bump in the road and we are going to fix it – I needed to trust them on this. On the way home tonight a friend reminded me that I also need to trust God and remember that He is directing my doctors in my care and He has my best interest in mind. Of course I know that – but I needed to hear someone else say it today too. I am in the palm of his hand. Not a hair that is falling from my head (which have been a lot lately due to the lovely scaly/shedding skin on my scalp) goes unnoticed by Him. I will keep trusting. I will keep pressing forward….
Specific prayer requests would be:
- The random fevers to cease
- My skin to clear up
- Me to be able to go back on this medicine, even if I have to do steroids in between
- My anxiety to lessen
- And as always, to keep the cancer bugs away 🙂
Thank you all for the prayers – I truly appreciate each and every one!
Love,
Lesley
