Easter

April 14, 2020 · from Lesley’s original CaringBridge journal

Easter, in the hospital, with no visitors allowed, during a global pandemic, with a very surprising diagnosis of cancer for the second time. On paper this sounds like the most gloomy, terrible situation to be put in. But it wasn’t. He is risen! He is risen indeed! Even in the midst of all of that. It was a wonderful day and one that I know I will never forget. What a unique opportunity I had to experience this! My day started with a beautiful sunrise that I could see out of my window, reminding me that God’s promises are new every morning, His grace was new this morning, I was alive again this morning with an opportunity to praise Him in a very interesting situation. Over the intercom there was a short message and prayer. Every person that came in my room that day praised the Lord – we said “He is risen” so many times I can’t count! Chaplains came and prayed with me. My nurses encouraged me all day long. It was unexpected, but so natural all at the same time. I am surrounded by so many believers – taking care of my body, but also nurturing my soul with the acknowledgement of who the Great Physician truly is. This is a short post, and I want to keep it that way (shocking I know!) because I don’t want you to think about me stuck in this hospital being sad because I wasn’t home with my family. Of course I would have rather been with my guys, don’t get me wrong! But God is alive and at work here, in a place where you wouldn’t imagine Him being so front and center. It was a glorious Easter Sunday.

His Grace and ever giving light will always shine on you and your family. As the morning sun rose in the East, He too rose to be with us always and forever.

Morning by morning new mercies I see. Great is Thy faithfulness!
