I’m checked back in! Room 5635 this time. I am in the same unit but on a different hall for the transplant patients. I am a little more protected than last time and my room is much much bigger. I have three big windows this time, a much bigger window ledge (plenty of room for cards and decor), a bigger closet, bathroom, more room for my bike which I’ve already requested and I think there may be room for a dance party in here… ideas are flowing. It was kind of like a homecoming this morning. When I came in they said “she’s back!” We were all excited to see one another again. One of the nurses even said that she told the mailman that “your friend is back today” and he said “Mrs. Letson?!” So folks….the mailman is expecting things….we need your help! 🙂
The plan for the week: I have already completed day one of the chemo. I have four days to go. The first four days are a chemo with not as strong of side effects, but the one extra dose I will get Sunday is supposed to be a doozy. It’s major side effect…. mouth sores. Ya’ll know with my history of Ursula I am cringing at this. I am supposed to keep ice in my mouth before, during, and after this chemo is given to reduce the instance of mouth sores, but I was told to expect them still. Praying, like a toddler again, that I won’t have a month of a sore mouth again. Monday will be an off day – and Jack and Eli’s birthday – hopefully we can have some good FaceTime that day. Tuesday, the 26th will be my “birthday,” the day of the transplant.
So far I feel fine. I am pretty sore from getting the Hickman put in yesterday, but that is all. I have had a good appetite and maybe eaten more snacks than I should have today. I brought some of my decorations from before, but not all of them – I wanted to leave room for improvement and give myself things to do. I have some crafts, some reading material, and of course all the things to watch. I just need to establish my new routine. Phase 2, here we go!!!! I’m glad you are coming along with me. Let’s see what God does with this!

Oh, Lesley. I am sending a huge, non-CoVid19 hug. And I know that the Lord Jesus has you in His great big, almighty hands, holding you every inch of the way — even with Ursula’s children trying to get in. He’s got them all pre-managed, too (think pre-school tether). Thank you for inviting us along. We are all there with you (so glad you are such a good writer.)
